Membership Standards

The Society of Art is a professional, welcoming community for Life Models, Artists, and Art Event Organisers. To protect the integrity of our platform and the wellbeing of our members, we uphold clear standards of conduct that apply both within the Society of Art and in professional settings connected to it.

Respect, Privacy, and Inclusivity

Every member of the Society of Art has the right to privacy. Members are only expected to share information that is relevant to their professional practice within the life drawing community. Personal details such as sexuality, gender identity, religion, medical history, or body type must never be questioned, criticised, or used to judge a member’s professional ability. Diversity is respected and celebrated, and discriminatory or intrusive behaviour will not be tolerated.

All Society of Art spaces – including events, workshops, online discussions, and private communications – must be treated as professional and respectful environments. Members must not attend events, classes, or gatherings without invitation or a legitimate purpose, and must always respect boundaries set by organisers, models, and artists.

Professional Conduct and Accountability

Members are expected to conduct themselves with civility and professionalism in all Society of Art forums, events, and communications. Rude, offensive, threatening, or intimidating behaviour – whether online or in person — will be addressed promptly and fairly. The Society of Art reserves the right to remove members from discussions, events, or the platform if conduct brings the Society or its members into disrepute.

If a member experiences unsafe, unethical, or unprofessional behaviour from another member, client, or organiser, they are encouraged to report this to the Society of Art. We maintain records of concerns and positive feedback to help protect our community and uphold professional standards.

Standards Outside the Society of Art

Members are expected to uphold the same standards of respect, professionalism, and reliability when working outside the platform. Life models should honour bookings, arrive punctually, and be prepared for work. If a model is unable to fulfil a commitment, they are expected to communicate promptly and act responsibly. Changes to agreed procedures at classes or events should only occur with the consent of those responsible for organising the session.

Members must not behave in ways that undermine or shame other professionals within the life drawing community. The principles of respect and integrity that apply within the Society of Art are equally expected in external professional settings.

Working Conditions and Community Governance

The Society of Art supports fair, safe, and professional working conditions across the life drawing community. Members are encouraged to follow recommended working standards and to advocate for respectful and ethical practices in all creative environments.

We value member voices and encourage active participation in shaping the Society of Art. Members may share feedback, raise concerns, contribute ideas, and engage in discussions that help the platform grow. While the Society of Art may involve volunteers and contributors, decisions regarding governance, moderation, and platform development remain the responsibility of the Society’s administration.

Breaches of Conduct

Failure to uphold these standards may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from the Society of Art. All matters are handled with care, fairness, and the wellbeing of the wider community in mind.

By being part of the Society of Art, members agree to uphold these principles and contribute to a professional, inclusive, and supportive life drawing community.
